Dear Sir/Madam,

While I would of course be perfectly capable of conducting this correspondance in my native Swedish, given the international scope of the project described below, I'd appreciate if you could follow my example by responding in English as well, for the benefit of full transparency also to our non-Swedish participants and readers.

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to seek your kind guidance and formal permission regarding the use of elements from the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, produced by Sveriges Television, as part of a creative project I am developing titled God Bless Eurovision. This project imagines a fictional scenario where the Vatican participates in Eurovision 2029 in Stockholm, following a hypothetical Swedish win at ESC 2028 in Tirana, Albania (encouraging the supposed host Måns Zelmerlöw to practice a little Albanian), and at this stage, we are focused solely on the website that presents the draft script and related content for public feedback.

Our current draft script borrows several elements from the 2016 Eurovision event in Stockholm, including a planned reprise of the song Story of ESC, with the addition of a new verse that would reflect events since 2016, and probably the SvT logo as well. As such, we are seeking permission to feature references to the 2016 event and this particular song on the project’s website, which primarily serves as a platform for the draft script and promotional materials.

At this point, we are not pursuing a final movie production, as this is still a zero-budget project, and we do not yet have a producer willing to invest in the project. Any negotiations regarding rights and licensing for the movie will be deferred until we secure production support. Our immediate focus is ensuring that the website is clear from a licensing perspective and that we comply with any restrictions regarding the use of content related to the 2016 event.

We would deeply appreciate your guidance on the appropriate use of these elements and whether permission can be granted for the website. As this is an exploratory phase and we are unable to pay any fees at this stage, we welcome any advice you can provide on how to move forward within these limitations.

Lastly, I kindly request permission to publish any response from your office, positive or negative, to demonstrate on our website http://www.pdcs.org/escva/ that we have sought and obtained the necessary permissions in good faith.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to your feedback and hope to proceed with your guidance in ensuring that the 2016 event and its elements are represented respectfully on the project’s website.

Sincerely,
Anders Andersson
